UK BNI member Terence Harding used flat pieces of laser cut acrylic (posh plastic) to create the Sonus sound portrait sculpture entitled “Givers Gain” which is a physical rendering of sound analysis data from Dr. Ivan Misner’s voice on the BNI orientation CD.

“The sculpture has very much to do with not just Ivan,” says Harding, “but the concept of BNI being people all helping each other out.”
While in college at the University of Brighton, England, Terence developed software which he used to create sculptures inspired by the behavior of water. However, upon graduation, his wife was expecting their first child and he put his sculpting endeavors on hold to go into creating quality bespoke furniture as, unlike sculpting, it was a business with a relatively quick return.
Says Harding, “Thanks to the training, support, networking, opportunity to further personally develop, and the viable business opportunities provided by BNI, I have now been able to return to sculpture. However, this time I’ve produced something one hundred times better.”
Terence spent the last three years with ideas percolating around his head, not being able to do anything about them and now his current work revolves around sound and by using the software he wrote from scratch to express sound in a physical form. He now intends to investigate other subjects including other data sources such as cartographic data.
“ . . . A big thank you to Ivan, BNI and all its members who are out there to help me . . . my next move is to create a sculpture in lead crystal or dichroic glass, which will look phenomenal,” says Harding, “and I’m currently looking for sponsorship from various suppliers, starting with Swarovski.”
So many people have been inspired by Terence’s work and we wish to thank him for his wonderful contribution to BNI and wish him the greatest of success in all his endeavors!
